Your version of the slough is BEAUTIFUL...Hi Casey!
Your version of the slough is BEAUTIFUL! And it was fun to share my painting spot with you. Your use of neutrals shows off your pure color, plus they bring a kind of harmony that would not be present without them. Nice!
PS Thanks for taking the time to visit me in La Conner!loriann signorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16738796573576452724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826049157205598760.post-40448855359975417532010-08-01T06:55:17.457-07:002010-08-01T06:55:17.457-07:00That's a high compliment, Brian. Kyoko and I are in Europe for 2-1/2 weeks on vacation, first in Germany and then in Provence. I'm planning for lots of time spent drawing en plein air and hope my efforts might approach the immediacy and beauty of your work at the slough. I enjoyed the WK video, BTW.Brian McGurganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11963409828276349170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826049157205598760.post-19316008636721523772010-07-29T21:27:45.964-07:002010-07-29T21:27:45.964-07:00I am glad it goes over well. I will ..."a spare extravagance of color"

I will use it. After I figure it out.

Ha ha. Sometimes its hard to verbalize these things, Sam. I sure love that you read and look at my humble paintings.

It is interesting to explore color. For a number of years I used no neutrals whatsoever - primary & secondary only. Pure tones.

Now, I am using the neutrals because I noticed they can express full intensities, too. Does anyone know why?

Anyway, the thing with colorism is intensities. Often, intensities before temperatures.Casey Klahnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08020906666248399435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826049157205598760.post-21810166351087710602010-07-28T17:26:39.501-07:002010-07-28T17:26:39.501-07:00Let's see, how would I put it?...
