My Card
Over the horizon, I am planning for a set of exhibits, in my coastal hometown of Hoquiam, Washington. Mayor Jack Durney wants me to hurry up and exhibit, and has named it "The Return of the Native." To sweeten the deal, he has offered me a Get Out of Jail Free Card. There's a first time for everything - thanks, Mr. Mayor!

On the near horizon, I am exhibiting in a new show in Kirkland, Kirkland Uncorked. The hours are as follows: Kirkland Uncorked Promenade (Free Festival) WA, July 16 - 18. Hours: Friday 2pm-8pm • Saturday 11am-8pm • Sunday 11am-6pm
Good Luck Casey! As for the cards...sometimes the perks are the best part of the deal! hehe
ReplyDeleteWow the Hoquiam River Bright image is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this weekend in Kirkland!
Your wife is right.
ReplyDeleteWhat, no parade for the hometown hero?
Yeah, Sally. That's me - a real jail bird. But, you never know what you might need.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! I favor it. This is the formal photo - the one posted before was from the point-and-shoot camera.
Thanks, Sam! Here's what the mayor wrote on my FB wall:
"I can arrange police escort in to town, article in the Daily World of the "Return of the Native", special display of your art in the library, and a Get Out of Jail Free card while you are in town. Seriously, we can make a big deal out of your participation!"
Who says small towns don't offer opportunity to artists?
What I find remarkable about this image is how despite the variety of marks, each one serves a very exacting purpose.
ReplyDeleteThat's very exciting about the show, good for you! There are a few things more rewarding then being recognized by your neighbors. I remember driving through Hoquiam at 2am on the way back from the rainforest, it looked like a neat town.
Don't think about the pressure, just do your very best:)
Thanks for looking so closely, Nika. If I can keep the whole picture in mind, the marks find their unity. Good to be quick - it helps in that.
ReplyDeleteI call Hoquiam small, but I now live in the country outside a town ten times smaller. You visited all the way from Florida! The Olympic Peninsula is about as remote as it gets in the USA, huh?
wives are good barometers! I am certain you will succeed in all your venues..you need no get out of jail free cards whatsoever--lol (but since the MAYOR is giving you one...WELL. Hold onto it! lol)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful painting --I bet it is even better in person.
