What Fresh Mess Is This?
Casey Klahn
Just kidding. I'm tentatively happy with my first oil start. More tubes are on order from Seattle, so I can actually color this baby in.
So many questions I have. Will I leave the impasto textures, or will they just get in the way of the varnish? Will I trench-in a new power line, or fish around for the old one?
Drywall plans are on the drawing board. One step at a time.
How exciting! A new studio? A new medium? Great fun. This looks like you're off to a fine start. Follow your intuition. You're doing great.
ReplyDeleteDo remember to put on your smock. Messy stuff especially Alzarin.
Oh wow! That is so yummie. I could swim in that color. From what I hear you will ove oils. I am still puttering with watercolor. I can't wait to see how you do and what you learn.
ReplyDelete-laura.
You crack me up. Having all that space will give your mind room to roam, and then some. Wow, scary. Somebody should make a movie. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteWonderful start--to both painting and studio.
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda! At least a temporary studio. Maybe I'll develop it further, though.
ReplyDeleteLaura, Thank you!
Sam - I considered filming some of the set-up, but decided that filming grass growing would be more interesting. Film at 11.
Thanks, Jean!
Definitely eye candy! Mmmm, MMmmm good!
ReplyDeleteI've noticed so many pastelists turning to oil lately. Why?? What's going on??
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that, Brenda!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah! Many pastelists do oils, pastels, and monotype is another popular medium. My friend, Ken Elliott, does those, plus collage. I have wanted to do oils for many years, but am just now feeling the time for it.
One can do things on the surface with oils that are just different from pastel. Scale is usually a big difference, too. I expect that I'll find the powerful colors in pastel to be superior, however.
Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI love this space you are painting in.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara and Darlene! It has been fun, and I am waiting for my box from Seattle with more tubes. I had to dig around to find my very old supplies, and they aren't adequate. Anticipation!
