Here are some new boards that I have started. The Simplicity board is very new, and it is curated to show art that is irreducible. Well, most of the time: it is a hard board to judge, but very revealing and much fun.
Casey, what to you is simplicity in art? It is about the process of the making/creating, the theme or the instant appreciation by the viewer? I have enjoyed your simplicity board very much, but it raised this question for me.
This board about simplicity is on my mind when I go to the easel daily. The first test for me is: is this design and composition irreducible? That means, among probably many things: can I take something away and have the same statement?
John F. Carlson did say, (loose quote) I don't believe a painting has ever failed by being too simple.
I hope one day you will do a blogpost on the meaning of simplicity in art too. Maybe more artist could do that. It would be interesting to read what others think and feel about this theme.
I am writing the lesson for my blog, Pastel Workshop, on simplicity right now. It may take a few days to complete, though. I am in the studio painting daily, and time is also a dear treasure.

As a matter of fact, I have some artworks in the studio that are about complexity, and I have to put them aside because I am also driven right now by simplicity - trying to do better at it. Weird problem!

So, simplicity, to you, has to do with the mind of the maker. You inspire to do a post on the question what simplicity means to artists.
