OMGosh, that is just gorgeous on so many levels, that blue is yummy and wham, but doesn't distract the eye from wandering around and enjoying the whole piece.
I had to laugh when I read the title of this post, Casey!
I always love your placement of these bright spots of color in your paintings - the blues dance amongst the earthy neutrals, bringing the viewer's eye along with them :).
Interesting to see some blues come forward and some recede. I wouldn't have guessed which would do which before seeing this. Trying this upside down took some doing (yay for laptops), but once I got over any presuppositions, yes, I guess it could be that way. Fun to try, anyway.
I've just had another look at this one on my iPhone - useful for upside down!'It's really interesting to see how the dynamic of the painting changes - and I agree with you about the blacks and browns, they're essential elements.
I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debora! I know I must've hit the abstraction just so.

ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favourites - love the composition and the blue is just great!
ReplyDeleteI think the blue owes as much to the black as to the browns. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol, Celeste, Sonya and Sam.

ReplyDeleteCarol, that must be a neat trick on the iPhone - maybe place it on the table and look at it upside down?
