I caught ten minutes of Jesus Christ Superstar at my cousin's this morning, including the Garden of Gethsemane, with the images of Christ on the Cross. It makes me shudder each time I watch it.

I cut my teeth in the sixties & seventies, so on the subject of rock opera passion plays, I prefer Godspell over JCSS. Mostly because my high school produced the play and won the state competition for HS plays with it! Also, the resurrection is better portrayed in Godspell.

I have the Mel Gibson movie around here somewhere, but I understand it's too gory for children so I haven't watched it yet.

I've not watched The Passion Of Christ yet either. I must say I've never heard Godspell. How did I miss that one. Another thing that's now on my Amazon Used & New wish list. I'm not keen on the JCSS portrayal of the Resurrection either, come to think of it. But I can sing it all end to end including the instrumentals and sound effects. I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of, come to think of it.
