I love everything by Matisse, Carole - glad you liked this, too.

I don't speak a word, Kathy. But I try to understand. You are welcome!

Of course you love Matisse. The consummate colorist. Thanks for posting this.

Casey,
Thank you for posting this-I was amazed that I could actually see Matisse create a drawing. I had no idea that any type of footage existed. It is like looking in on a lost world. Matisse passed away the year I was born in 1954- I was only a few months old.

NJA 73 - I wonder if Matisse is too far in the past, or still present and vital?

You ought to read the Spurling 2 volume bio on Matisse just published in the past few years.

I saw a Matisse today--it was just like that drawing. He drew the lips with one unbroken line. So great! Thanks for sharing the video

I don't know why I am still amazed at technology as simple as sound recordings, but I never even thought of the possibility of hearing Matisse's voice so this was a treat! (Although, like you, I don't understand a word of it! My son, who took French couldn't understand him either - lol.)

Celeste, I understand his drawings were uncanny in depicting a likeness with the fewest lines. Lucky you to see one - probably at the Portland museum?

That is funny, Dan. Thanks for reading/listening.
