Tangle

Barn Tangle
Pastel & Charcoal
7" x 9.2"
Casey Klahn

This is right about the time I'd like to get out in the back yard and paint some more of these scenes around the house.  If the weather would just offer something other than the rain and snow mix it's giving today, I could make good on that goal. Anytime, now, Mr. Weatherman...

This barn image is from last year.

You have that image from your property? I'm envious :). As usual, you pull it off well with that unusual and creative palette.

Not that it will make you feel any better, but we aren't having spring-like weather here, either. And there is snow in the forecast as well...

I have always loved images, paintings, photos etc. of barns.

The one image I never tire of especially if captured properly.
Can't wait to see some new ones Casey.

Sunshine two days in a row on this side of the Cascades! Perhaps it's headed you way by the weekend!

Nature's best colors with a hint of a barn showing through - Really nice!

Simply beautiful!
It's snowy, sleety in Maine, too.
But the bulbs are popping! Won't be long.

Love this image! High today here was 74, but by time you are having it nice we'll be toasting!

Hi, Sonya. Eastern Washington has some very exceptional visuals, that's for sure. Some people romanticize it, but I get to live it and see the nuts and bolts. I do love my barn, except for the upkeep part.

John, I always feel like Seattle and Tacoma get the good spring earlier, but then they suffer with less summer.

Hi, Donna, I'm glad you added your comment. I have done the full barn image, and diminished the trees and foliage. This time I gave the trees their due.

Thanks, Linda. Maine is sort of my mirror state, with the upper coast and all. I expect it's colder, but I an't say since I've never lived there. Am I "romanticizing" Maine?

Thanks, Stan. Arizona is unto itself for weather. We have desert here, but it's different.

Oh, Casey, I am with you 100% on the weather! A couple of weeks ago, I went out with an art friend to look for barns. We had a sunny morning and took lots of photos and did a few sketches.

This is a beautiful one. I love the luscious way your colors mingle and separate. The red grabs my eye, but the violet steals my heart.

well, that fence structure really lends interest...and the colors of this is phenomenal! It's fun to see it "turn up" from last year.

Thanks to my two Portland area artist buddies. When I need to talk about wet weather, I can always count on your kind ears.

Celeste, I didn't like it at first, maybe due to some technical opinions. But, every time I turned it up in my studio, I really favored it and eventually it got its fair place in my flat file. I liked the way the land mirrored the fence. I just sold another fence painting from the studio - which is why I want to make some more of the back yard, I guess.

Kvan, I definitely had the Wolf Kahn mindset going on the color composition. Only, other than the color idea, he likes tangled growth.

Wow, I guess I missed this one last year, if you posted it before. It's great. Love the vibrancy of color and how abstract the painting is, too.

Honestly don't remember if I posted it, Jala. I didn't like it fully, but after seeing it around the studio for so long it grew on me.

Also, the new blogger way of selecting "x-large" makes for some nice looking images - I don't know why it's better than the old grab and pull.

Thanks.
