Video Series Takes You Into Degas' Studio, Home and Head
Drawing: Casey Klahn
Go here for a six-part video series that is a great tour of Montmartre and Degas' studio in the form of a re-creation. The focus is on his later works. Warning: pastel exposure.
Thank you so much for posting the links for the video series, Casey; I will keep working my way through them (along with the W.Khan series you posted a few days ago) as I have time. Can't get enough Degas!
Nice master copies - I always enjoy those as well.
I'm having a great time attending L'ecole de Klahn! Wolf Kahn 101 was a fascinating informal series, and while I wouldn't normally have signed up for the course on Degas, but I found it to be quite a wise requirement. Needless to say, the cost of tuition is a steal.
L'ecole de Klahn is actually a Klahn-glomeration of readers and I, Sam. Gotchya.
Hey, Dan. I recently dug out and set up my flat screen LG and am enjoying these in HD - although my feed gets a little slow. I hope you get as much from them as I have.
Celeste - appreciate the comment and compliment.
You are way too nice, Kathy. I try to emulate the man, but in doing so I find my weaknesses every time.
A few years ago there was a Degas show here in the Portland Art Museum. Did you happen to catch it? Your drawing reminded me. As a young artist I became aware of how lighting can affect the facial features thanks to Degas.

Hi, Sonya. I am a big Degas fan, too. Thanks.
