What a conversation! Thanks for posting it.
This discussion of the show makes me so sad that I missed it. The coupling of the two artists is fascinating. I have been fortunate to see a major retrospective of Picasso's work in New York the year before Guernica was shipped back to Spain, I think. I've also seen a major retrospective of Matisse's work (several times) years ago in Detroit, my hometown. The two together would have kept me in the museum for days. Wonderful post. Thank you.
