This is my farm in eastern Washington. We no longer grow Barley here, but old terms die hard. This year, like most of the US, we had very little snow. I did capture this one day, though.

fantastic! 10 out of 10!
Thanks!!
This is so beautiful and rich in texture and color. I love it.
Thanks, Tina. It's good to see you around here. Do you know my friend Patty Forte-Linna, who shows her pastels in Edmonds?
The dark under layers give this painting wonderful depth Casey. Thank goodness for the iphone; it looks too cold to sit outdoors, light snow or no.
Casey, I saw the actual pic of the farm on FB and I know several people did their interpretations of this but I have to say i like yours the best. this is beautiful. some of the others went by the photo way too much making their paintings dark. yours is your interpretation. Of course you do have the advantage of actually being there to see this in person. I just love the lights and darks really the values are wonderful and make the painting. As Richard McKinley said "Value does all the work while color gets all the glory". your colors are wonderful!
I second 10 out of 10. Wonderfully done. And since we have snow here too, I actually feel this drawing.
Isn't it wonderful how the winter changes our palette to these deep, grey and metallic colours? I'm from the Netherlands, so I know how many grey colours there are in the sky, seas, lakes and channels. Although we all long for blue skies, greys are much more interesting for painters.
Cheers, Paula
Hi Casey: Love your Snow Day. It looks like the composition is similar to your barn scene in your post called {Winter Scenery} and I love your pastel version. Really nice. Thanks, Johnnny
Thank you, Linda, Paula, Sara and Johnnny.
The moody colors and lovely marks enable me to 'feel' the snow...
A gem of a pastel for sure. Like you we don't have much snow to speak of in Western Canada but I am sure enjoying the warmer weather! Always enjoy your work.
Sharmon and Darrell, it is a very nice day to have two new comment givers. Thanks for coming by.
