Matisse on Color

1953

I just ordered a book of essays by and about Henri Matisse.  This quote is from the essay, The Role and Modalities of Color, 1945.

Sounds interesting. I have a book that is called "About Art" (or "Über Kunst") with essays and talks by him. And a wonderful book about his and Bonnards letters and cards to each other. I really like this one. It is full of life.

It is Matisse On Art, Jack Flam. A collection of essays. Might be the same book! Looks like it excludes letters, though.

Yeeeessss exactly, Jack D. Flam!!!
No letters in mine either.

The letters between Bonnard and Matisse are from the French - another book.

I will report dutifully - thanks, Linda. Is California treating you well? I enjoyed Ontario and Denver this past month.

Karin - you are ahead of me. I was tipped off by a reader and patron, but before this morning hadn't heard of this book.
